Hayward Fault and 1868 Earthquake Special Collection

October 21, 2008 marks the 140th anniversary of the 1868 Hayward earthquake, which was the first great “San Francisco earthquake” and one of the most damaging earthquakes in the nation's history. The Seismological Society of America is commemorating this event by creating a virtual special issue of BSSA. This list of previously published BSSA articles focus on the Hayward earthquake and associated research.

The links take you to the article online. If it is in PDF-only, you will be taken to a download page. If it is full-text, you will be taken to the abstract and may choose to either download the PDF or read the full text online.

This project was initiated and pursued by Bill Rinehart. Tom Brocher and Keith Knudsen helped Bill select the final list of articles to be included. All of the articles selected were previously published in BSSA under the normal BSSA publication process.
