Erratum to Wave Propagation in Irregularly Layered Elastic Models: A Boundary Element Approach with a Global Reflection/Transmission Matrix Propagator

Zengxi Ge and Xiaofei Chen

Laboratory of Computational Geodynamics, Department of Geophysics, School of Earth and Space Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China

In Ge and Chen (2007), Figure 6 compared the synthetic seismograms computed by the boundary element method (BEM) with those computed by the finite-difference (FD) method. Figure 6b and c showed two sets of seismograms in which the results of the BEM were plotted in solid lines and those of the FD method were plotted in dashed lines. Because the two sets of results are very similar, the dashed lines were hidden by the solid lines, making it difficult for the reader to see the comparison. We have revised this figure and include it here. The agreement between the two sets of results is excellent.

Figure 6. Comparison of the synthetic seismograms for a three-layered medium using the BEM and the FD method. (a) The model; (b) the horizontal component; (c) the vertical component. In (b) and (c), the thick solid lines denote the results from the BEM, and the thick dashed lines denote the results from the FD method.
