Abstract

Analysis of the Loma Prieta aftershock sequence (mainshock: 18 October 1989) shows periodicities at the periods of two normal modes 0S2 and 0T2. About 10% of the small aftershocks in the fault zone are triggered by these two modes during the 6 days following the mainshock.
