Abstract

Some authors suppose the existence of an X-XI intensity earthquake which took place in Valencia in August 1427, based on the text from Al Maqrizy, an Arab author of the middle fourteenth century.

Such an earthquake is not registered in any Spanish earthquake catalog, and the Christian sources existing at the moment demonstrate that it could not happen at this moment and that the event belongs to the seismical period known as "Olotina Serie" which was felt between 1.427 and 1.428 in Olot (Gerona, Spain)
