Numerical seismograms for a layered elastic solid

FLAVIAN ABRAMOVICI

DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS THE UNIVERSITY OF TEL-AVIV, RAMAT-AVIV, Israel

Abstract

The vertical and horizontal components of the displacement are computed for various structures consisting of one homogeneous layer welded on the top of a homogeneous half-space. Various locations of the source and receiver are considered. Conspicuous portions of the seismograms are interpreted in terms of groups of reflected rays of the type PnSK with the same k, which have been preceded by totally reflected rays of the same type.
