Particle trajectories displayed on a linear time scale

Abstract

A method is presented for the display of earth particle trajectories in three dimensional space against a linear time scale. Several idealized trajectories are illustrated, and the distinctive patterns exhibited by various wave types are shown. The trajectory displays of portions of two strong-motion seismograms recorded near an underground nuclear explosion are exhibited and discussed.
