Discussion of "earthquake analysis by response spectrum superposition" by R. W. Clough

Abstract

A formula for approximating the maximum earthquake response of shear-buildings is given. This formula gives maximum shears as a linear combination of the r.m.s. superposition and the absolute value superposition of modal maxima. A comparison is made with a previously proposed method and some comments are made on the accuracy.
