Generation of earthquakes by a volume source with moment

J. G. J. SCHOLTE and A. R. RITSEMA

ROYAL NETHERLANDS METEOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE, DE BILT, Holland

Abstract

The theory developed in paper I* has been used to determine the influence of the focal radius on the P and S wave radiation from a spherical source on which the stress Formula acts. The result has been applied to two earthquakes of which the P and S wave distribution around the focus was studied in paper II. {dagger} In an appendix, the present model of the focus is compared with similar models that are described in literature.
