Abstract
This paper investigates the plastic displacements occurring when certain types of elastoplastic multistory shear structures are subjected to large earthquakes. It is directed toward finding a variation of the horizontal stiffness and strength up the structure in order to minimize yield displacements and distribute them over the structure. The analysis has been made on an analog computer using a white noise source to simulate the earthquake disturbance.
